The Hong Kong Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons was founded in 1967 and is the official society for plastic surgery in Hong Kong listed under the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong. It was formerly known as the “Hong Kong Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons”.

The Society is a non-profit making professional organization established with the aim to promote education, training and research in the field of plastic surgery, not only amongst its members but also colleagues from other specialties.

The Society speaks for the majority of reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeons providing services to patients in Hong Kong today. While the majority of plastic surgery work is reconstructive, restoring form and function following congenital malformation, illness or trauma, the public is aware that some is aesthetic or ‘cosmetic', where people elect for plastic surgery to change form or appearance. In January 2006, it was renamed the Hong Kong Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons. The Society continues its work in promoting fraternity and raising the profile of plastic surgeons, coordinating with the College of Surgeons and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine on continuous professional educational activities as well as safeguarding the public interests by educating the public regarding all aspects of plastic surgery.
